Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal Friday shooting in the east valley.

Michael Rusk, 28, was arrested Friday and booked into Clark County Detention Center with on charges of murder, conspiracy murder and conspiracy to commit murder and robbery, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Just after 2 p.m. Friday, Metro patrol officers responded to an apartment complex at 451 N. Nellis Blvd., near Bonanza Road. A man pulled into a space in the parking lot of the complex where three men in a white Kia sedan were waiting for him, police said.

As the man got out of his car, the three men in the Kia pulled up next to him, and two men stepped out of the sedan and fired numerous rounds at the man, according to police. The man, who has not yet been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office, was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.

The two passengers involved in the incident were not apprehended Friday, police said. They were both described as black men, with one described as 5-feet, 5-inches tall with dreadlocks and the other described as heavy-set, according to police.

Metro said the fatal shooting was the 78th the department has investigated in its jurisdiction for 2016.

Bail $500,000 for man held in downtown Las Vegas shooting

Bail was set at $500,000 for a 20-year-old accused of shooting four people early May 29 on a downtown Las Vegas sidewalk.

Defense attorney Roy Nelson couldn’t immediately be reached Thursday to say whether Steven Demond Burks could raise the bond money ahead of a June 27 preliminary hearing.

Police say Burks told investigators he used Pierre Terrell Devlin’s gun to shoot from Devlin’s car while Devlin drove.

Devlin remains jailed on $250,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing June 20.

Burks was arrested last weekend, becoming the second man to face attempted murder, battery, conspiracy and weapon charges. Police say the shooting followed argument on a sidewalk on Ogden Avenue at 3rd Street.

Las Vegas Police Arrest Two Men in Connection with Fatal Shooting


Oscar Gomez, 20, and Gustavo Delacruz-Cortez, 25, were arrested Wednesday.

According to police, Gomez was arrested in the 400 block of Fortissimo Street, and Delacruz-Cortez was arrested in the 9300 block of Yucca Blossom Drive. Both were taken into custody without incident, Metro said.

On June 24, Metro responded to a report of a shooting in the 5100 block of Tropicana Avenue, where they found an unresponsive man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died, police said. Police said the man was involved in a fight in a convenience store the parking lot when two men shot him.

Gomez faces one count of open murder with use of a deadly weapon, Metro said; Delacruz-Cortez faces one charge of harboring, concealing or aiding a felony offender.

Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting Outside Strip Club

A man has been arrested in a fatal shooting earlier this month in the parking lot of a strip club, according to Metro Police.

Kenneth Fletcher, 31, was arrested Wednesday and booked at the Clark County Detention Center, where he faces a count of open murder, according to arrest logs. He was being held without bail.

The shooting happened about 5:20 a.m. June 19 at Larry’s Villa at 2401 West Bonanza Road, police said. Police said two men were involved in a confrontation before shots were fired.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Alxavier Lee Woods, 40, of Las Vegas. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died.
